Boyd's Boat Not Enough as Mortensen Scoops

Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen raised under the gun and Dutch Boyd made the call in the big blind.

They saw a flop of {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Boyd checked, then called the bet from Mortensen. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and again Boyd checked to Mortensen who fired a bet. Boyd made the call.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Boyd led out this time with Mortensen flat calling.

Boyd showed {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a full house but Mortensen scooped with {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a bigger full house and only low. Mortensen is now up to 800,000 with Boyd down to 520,000.

Turner Trailing

Ming Lee raised from the cutoff before Jon Turner reraised from the button. The blinds folded and Lee called.

They saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Lee fired a bet which Turner called. The same happened on the {2-Spades} before the {Q-Diamonds} fell on the river. Lee fired a third barrel which was enough to force a fold from Turner.

Turner is now the short stack with 255,000 with Lee up to 470,000.

Mortensen Misses

Jon Turner completed before folding on fourth street as Dutch Boyd and Carlos Mortensen got into a tangle. On fifth Boyd bet and Mortensen raised, before they checked down sixth and seventh streets.

Mortensen: (X-X-X) {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Boyd: ({Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades}) {Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Mortensen looked a chance for at least half but mucked as Boyd scoops with just a pair of queens.

Mortensen has 640,000 with Boyd up to 665,000.

Ivey Starts Well Following Dinner

Phil Ivey has taken down the first three pots following the dinner break. Each time Ivey was the aggressor and forced his opponents to fold by fourth street in Stud-8. With the limits as big as they are, Ivey has just added another 100,000 to his stack with very little effort or resistance.

Eric Buchman - 6th Place
Eric Buchman - 6th Place
Eric Buchman completed and was all in on fourth street for his last chips as Dutch Boyd and Ming Lee competed for the side pot.

Boyd led the betting the whole way and Lee looked him up.

Boyd: ({Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}) {6-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Lee: (X-X-X) {2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Buchman: ({K-Clubs}{2-Spades}-X) {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Lee mucked as Boyd showed trip queens which was also too good for Buchman as no one could find a low. He collects $34,747 for his 6th place finish.

Ivey IS Human

Phil Ivey raised the button before Ming Lee popped it from the small blind. Ivey made the call and they saw a flop of {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Lee led out with a bet and Ivey made the call.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and Lee checked, Ivey bet but Lee check-raised. Ivey made the call again and they went to the river where the {K-Clubs} peeled off. Lee fired again and Ivey paid him off.

Lee showed {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a seven-high straight to go with the nut low. Ivey mucked and Lee moves up to 380,000 with Ivey showing he's actually human as he falls back to 600,000.

Tom Koral Eliminated in 7th Place ($27,993)

Tom Koral - 7th Place
Tom Koral - 7th Place
Carlos Mortensen raised from under the gun before Ming Lee popped it from late position. Tom Koral called in the big blind as did Mortensen.

They saw a flop of {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} and action checked to Lee who bet. Koral then raised and Mortensen called. Lee reraised and Koral called for his last chips. Mortensen called once again.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Mortensen check-called the bet from Lee. The river landed the {10-Clubs} and the two live players checked and showed down their cards.

Mortensen tabled {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for the flush as Lee mucked and Koral flashed {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} before also tossing his cards.

Koral exits in 7th place for a nice $27,993 pay day.
