Mario Ho Dodges Elimination

In her big blind, Mario Ho was on the short stack. Gavin Smith entered the pot from early position to which Ho commented, "Stay out of my pot!"

"You're already laying claim to the pot?" asked Gavin.

"Well, it's my big blind and I only have a few hundred chips left." responded Ho.

The two players saw the flop come down {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and some betting ensued. The action was enough to get Maria all in and when the dealer asked to see the hands, Ho and Smith decided to show just one card on the flop and then one on each street until the end.

Maria showed the {A-Hearts} first and Gavin showed the {Q-Clubs}. After the turn came the {9-Hearts}, Maria showed the {8-Clubs} and Gavin the {3-Hearts}. Ho was showing two pair at the current time, but someone at the table chimed in, "I bet Gavin's got a set of threes."

The river came the {6-Clubs} and Ho revealed the {4-Diamonds}. Smith responded with the {4-Hearts}. Maria then came back with the {6-Hearts} and Smith busted out the {3-Spades} for a set of threes.

Gavin's {Q-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {3-Spades} was good enough for three-quarters of the pot against Ho's {A-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}, leaving Maria with just a few hundred chips.
