Back to Back Pots to Mexico

Angel Guillen looked like he was letting this heads up battle get away from him but two pots in a row have swung the pendulum back in his favor.

The first saw Guillen raise it up and get called before they both checked the {8-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {7-Spades} flop. The {6-Hearts} turn saw Paasonen lead for 200,000 and get called. The river {9-Spades} saw Paasonen lead out once more and receive an instant call. Paasonen's {K-Spades} {5-Clubs} no good against {8-Spades} {10-Hearts} for a straight.

********

The next hand saw Guillen three bet preflop then lead out on a {7-Spades} {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} flop. Paasonen called before the {9-Diamonds} turn and {10-Clubs} river were checked through. Guillen showed {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} and took the pot as the Finn mucked.

Frequency Of Three-Bets Increases

Gradually both players are starting to reraise each other a bit more of the time. Mika Paasonen seemed to be doing it slightly more at first but the Guillen supporters are clearly encouraging their man to fight back as much as possible.

Immediately the next hand Guillen reraises out of the big blind and Paasonen instantly folds.

Paasonen has his own game plan too though, he just limped in and then reraised Guillen's 210,000 bet to 670,000. Guillen folded and the Finn showed {Q-Hearts} {5-Clubs}.

It's become a real battle of wills here.

Pot Goes One Way, Then the Other

Paasonen raised it up to 125,000 and Guillen called before a {5-Spades} {2-Spades} {J-Spades} flop came down. Guillen bet 150,000 and 250,000 on {Q-Spades} turn and was called both times. Paasonen checked again on the {4-Spades} but Guillen checked behind and mucked upon seeing Paasonen's {K-Spades} {8-Spades}.

The next hand was a role reversal with with Guillen check calling all the way down until we had a {4-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {2-Spades} {4-Hearts} board. The third check by Guillen was checked behind though and he didn't get any extra value out of the trips he hit on the river with {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Paasonen Picks Up the Pace

With blinds now up to 30,000/60,000 Mika Paasonen has upped the aggression a little, he's 3-bet Guillen off a couple of pots to take them down preflop. He also picked up a nice pot with {J-?} {8-?} on a {J-Spades} {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {K-Spades} X board.

Both players are raising every hand to 125,000 but while Guillen folds on occasion, Paasonen is happier to play out of position and wants to play most hands to a flop.

Nearly Pulled the Trigger

Paasonen raised the usual 125,000 from the button and Guillen called to see a {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} flop. Guillen led out for 125,000 and was called before the turn came {2-Diamonds}. Guillen led out for 325,000 this time and was called again. The river came {8-Diamonds} before Guillen slowed to a check and then faced a 500,000 bet from Paasonen.

He looked like he wanted to call as he had the chips ready, then he counted out a raise but ultimately he folded and gave up the pot.

Smallball City

The pots are staying very small so far, it's all mostly been checked down to the river. There's only been one three-bet pot, when Guillen reraised and Paasonen folded.

Guillen Takes First Big Pot

Guillen raised to 100,000 on button and Mika Paasonen made the call in the big blind (Paasonen tends to make every button raise 125,000 and Guillen 100,000).

The flop was {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Spades} and Paasonen check-called a bet of 125,000 from his Mexican opponent. Both players checked the {K-Hearts} turn before Paasonen bet 200,000 on the {7-Spades} river.

Guillen then raised to 725,000 and the Finn called, but mucked when he saw his opponent's rivered straight holding of {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}
