Simon Hits with Hammer

Michael Morusty raised to 50,000 from late position and Charles Simon asked if wanted the bad call, before committing from the small blind.

Simon check-called the flop of {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for 50,000 more and both players checked the {K-Diamonds} on the turn. Simon then moved all in when the {2-Clubs} hit the river, forcing Morusty to fold.

After the hand, Simon said he'd rivered two pair after making the preflop call with 7-2 off suit.

Garner Doubles Up

From under the gun, Ted Garner moved all in for about 120,000. Robert Beck called and everyone else folded. Beck held {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and was dominated against Garner's {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

The board stayed clean for Garner, as it ran out {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and he was able to double up and then some to over 250,000.

Ted McCollom Eliminated in 16th Place ($18,253)

Art Duncan limped in from the small blind and Ted McCollom checked his option in the big blind. The flop came down {7-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts}. Duncan led with a bet of 75,000 and then McCollom moved all in for about 160,000 total. Duncan thought about his decision for a minute or two and then made the call.

Duncan held {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. McCollom held {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}.

The turn was the {10-Spades} and the river was the {6-Spades}. McCollom couldn't complete the straight he was looking for and busted in 16th place.

When Big Stacks Collide

Charles Simon made it 75,000 to go from the hijack and Tom Thomas called from the small blind.

Thomas then bet 100,000 on a flop of {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} before Simon raised to 300,000. Thomas moved all in and Simon instantly called.

Thomas: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Simon: {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The {J-Hearts} on the turn was a knife through the heart for Thomas, who couldn't get the board to pair with the {5-Diamonds} on the river. The hand gave Simon a stack of 1.5 million and knocked Thomas down to 300,000.

Bounds Movin' Up

Barry Bounds raised to 55,000 and then Ted Garner reraised to 165,000. Everyone folded back over to Bounds and he made the call.

The flop came down {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {2-Clubs} and immediately Bounds reached for some stacks of chips. He lined up four tall stacks of yellow chips and slid them into the middle. One of the stacks was short one chip and the total was 79,000. Garner took a moment and then folded.

Bounds is now at 850,000 chips.
