Hung Pham Eliminated in 46th Place ($138,568)

Hung Pham - 46th Place
Hung Pham - 46th Place
Ryan Fair came into the pot with a raise to 150,000. Three seats over, Hung Pham put in a reraise, making it 550,000 to skate. The table folded back around to Fair, and he moved all in for another 1,585,000 on top. Pham's stack was very close to Fair's, and he waited patiently while the dealer counted it down. Learning that he had the covering stack by just 65,000 chips, Pham made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Showdown
Fair: {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}
Pham: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

"He slowrolled me," said Fair, turning back to chat with his cheering section. "He had kings and he actually thought about that call... Oh well, maybe I'll get lucky."

It was a bit of dramatic foreshadowing as the dealer prepared to deal out the flop. Right in the door came the {10-Hearts}, drawing a big reaction from the spectators with just that one card still showing. In the end, the board rolled out {8-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}, and Fair did indeed get lucky. His tens full were the winner, earning him a massive double up. He's approaching 5,000,000 chips now, leaving Pham with that 65,000 funny money to play with.

On the next hand, Pham would be all in before the flop for 55,000 after paying an ante. Three players called, and the flop brought {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs}. Antonio Esfandiari bet out 150,000, and that was enough to put him heads up with the all-in Pham.

"Two pair," said The Magician, turning over {8-Spades} {2-Spades}. Pham tabled {A-Clubs} {6-Hearts} for a pair of his own. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn filled up Antonio, and Pham would need to pull a six to stay alive. The river was a scary but disappointing {5-Hearts}, and that's the end of the line for Hung Pham. After grinding out the short stack to perfection all day, he'll walk away with nearly $140,000.
