Richey Goes Back to Back

The Leapfrog, Brett Richey
The Leapfrog, Brett Richey
Brett Richey completed with the {Q-Clubs}, and Jan Sorenson made the call showing the {2-Clubs}.

Richey: (X-X) / {Q-Clubs} {4-Spades} {4-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} / (X)
Sorenson: (X-X) / {2-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {Q-Spades} / (X)

Fourth street saw Sorenson call a Richey bet. On fifth street, Richey bet again, but this time, Sorenson put another bet on top, which Richey called. Both players checked sixth street. Looking confident now, Richey fired a bet on seventh street, and Sorenson called. Richey laid out {A-Spades} {7-Spades} {9-Hearts} for aces up, and it was the winner as his opponent mucked his down cards.

On the very next hand, the two men went at it again. Richey completed once more, this time holding the {K-Clubs}, and Sorenson made the call with a deuce again.

Richey: (X-X) / {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} {J-Hearts} / (X)
Sorenson: (X-X) / {2-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} / (X)

Richey bet on fourth, fifth and sixth streets, with Sorenson calling all the way. Both players checked seventh street this time. Richey exposed his down cards first, revealing {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, which Sorenson couldn't match. With his split kings improving the whole way, Richey's Broadway straight was good enough to take down the second of back-to-back pots, leapfrogging him up near the very top with 142,000.
