We Be Cookin' with Gas!

How's this for some action: it started out limped preflop between Peter Gould and Bryce Yockey. Both players checked a flop of {3-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. On the turn {4-Diamonds}, Yockey bet 40,000 and was raised by Gould to 165,000. Yockey quickly called.

The river came down {6-Diamonds}. Yockey checked to Gould, who fired out a bet of 325,000. Yockey, who has snap-called with holdings as weak as king-high, deliberated for fifteen seconds before calling. Gould turned over {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} for the nut flush, drawing a frustrated pounding of the table from Yockey. Even a few hands later, he still looks annoyed.

Building Speed

Three players see a limped pot with a {5-Hearts} {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} flop. Bryce Yockey leads out from the BB and receives a call from Peter Gould in the SB. The turn {5-Spades} sees Gould check call a 90,000 bet from Yockey before we see a {A-Diamonds} river. Gould checks once more to face a much bigger bet to the value of 300,000. Gould takes a lot longer to call this one but he stills calls and mucks when he sees Yockey's {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs}.

Charles Furey Eliminated in 5th Place ($80,896)

Charles Furey - 5th Place
Charles Furey - 5th Place
"Now we're talking!" said the tournament director announcing this final table. He was referring to some significant action preflop. Charles Furey opened with a raise to 135,000 that Ken Aldridge re-raised to 400,000. Furey responded by moving all in; Aldridge quickly called.

Furey: {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Aldridge: {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

Aldridge had Furey covered, but only just barely. With Aldridge standing and Furey seated, the flop came down {9-Spades} {3-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Both players reacted; Aldridge gave a short fist-pump while Furey slammed the table in frustration. The {Q-Spades} on the turn was a good sweat card, as it gave Furey a flush draw, but the {3-Hearts} on the river didn't help him at all.

Furey was eliminated in 5th place, earning $80,896. Aldridge, meanwhile, has the chip lead once again.

Raising No More

Raises are the new endangered species at this table. The last several pots have been played without even a preflop raise (never mind any raising after the flop). Five minutes until the break. We'll see if anything changes once they come back because it's obvious not much is going to happen before then.

Rivered

Another opening raise from Bryce Yockey is called by Peter Gould in the BB before we saw a {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {6-Spades}. Gould check calls a 90,000 bet before both players check the {4-Diamonds} turn. The river {Q-Diamonds} sees Gould check to face a 170,000 bet from Yockey. He calls and takes the pot with {K-?} {Q-?} as Yockey's {J-?} {10-?} no good by the river.

Not Much to Report

The players are content right now just to pass the blinds and antes around. We're not seeing many flops and when we do there isn't much betting or raising. A break will probably help re-focus these players. The next one comes in 17 minutes.

Yockey's Chip Base Expands

Bryce Yockey isn't giving up on his style of trying to accumulate chips. He's playing lots of pots to lots of streets. He was in the big blind in a pot raised preflop by Carman Cavella and called by Peter Gould. Yockey called as well for a three-way flop.

Action checked to Gould after the flop fell {8-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. He opened for 125,000, a bet that only Yockey called. Both players checked the {4-Hearts} turn. When the river fell {j-Spades}, Yockey made a bet of 300,000 that Gould felt he couldn't call.

That's another sizable pot for Yockey.
