Awkward Moment after Elizabeth Doubles

Shannon Elizabeth snap called from the big blind after a player moved all in from early position. Her {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} were looking great against {a-Spades}{4-Spades} but Elizabeth wasn't confident.

"I'm going to walk away. I can't watch," said Elizabeth.

The flop came {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}, giving Elizabeth's opponent a straight flush draw. With Elizabeth calling for a red king, the turn came {2-Clubs} and river fell {q-Hearts}. Elizabeth's aces held to eliminate her opponent.

"Wow, what a sweat that was," said Phil Gordon. "Shannon Elizabeth can do it!"

Everyone looked at Gordon curiously.

The Comfort of the Familiar

Phil Hellmuth is here MCing, apparently on a break from the $10,000 PLO tournament. He's chatted with Shannon Elizabeth, who admitted that after being here in Vegas for the whole WSOP, "I'm ready to shoot myself"; Chris Ferguson; and Aussie cricketer Shane Warne.

Hellmuth noted that Warne is one of the most famous sprots figures in the world who is completely unknown here in America. Hellmuth found a few railbirds who knew of Warne and asked them to list Warne's accomplishments.

"He's the best bowler in the world," they said in an Aussie accent. Hellmuth had trouble deciphering what they said.

"The best baller in the world?" he asked. He was quickly corrected.

Elizabeth Doubles Up

The button player pushed all in, and after Shane Warne folded his small blind, Shannon Elizabeth had a decision from the big blind. She stood out of her chair, smiled, and licked her lips. After about thirty seconds, she said, "I know I'm going to lose this," and then shipped her stack of 30,000 into the middle. Her {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} was well ahead of the button's {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Elizabeth flopped an ace and was never threatened from there.
