Bald Eagle Makes Galfond Extinct

Steve Zolotow is from a different generation of poker player -- the generation that usually adopts a cautious strategy in tournament play. Sitting in middle position, he called behind an opening raise to 4,500. Action passed to Phil Galfond on the button. He three-bet to 16,700, folding the original raiser and bringing the action back to Zolotow.
"The Bald Eagle", as Zolotow is known, went into the tank for more than a minute before announcing he was all in. Galfond resignedly said, "I call," and pushed his whole stack of 117,800 into the middle. He was the player at risk, but he had a slight edge in the hand with 
against Zolotow's 
. There was a king on the flop, an ace on the turn, and no queen on the river of a 
board. Zolotow collected the pot with two pair, aces and kings, and knocked out Galfond.
Zolotow is now among the chip leaders with 420,000 chips.
