Another Low Keeps Hellmuth in the Game

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth was all in and Anders Taylor there to call him. Hellmuth had the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} while Taylor had the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Taylor picked up two pair. Hellmuth stood from his chair knowing he was now a turn and river away from losing. The turn gave Hellmuth a low draw when the {6-Hearts} fell and then the river landed with the {2-Diamonds}. Hellmuth backed into a low and wound up chopping the pot to stay alive in the tournament.

Despite all of his success in poker and being one of the most recognizable faces in the game, if not the most, Hellmuth heard many of the fans here watching the final table boo when he stayed alive. They also heckled him a little bit, which the tournament director had to issue a warning to the fans.
