Fives and Tres are Good

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Darren Woods limped in on the button, Sam Golbuff completed from the small blind, and Alexander Kuzmin checked his option. The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Golbuff checked, Kuzmin bet, Woods called, and Golbuff got out of the way.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and Kuzmin opted to slow down, check-calling a bet from Woods. Both players checked the {3-Clubs} on the river, and Kuzmin opened {5-Clubs}{x-} for fives and threes. They were good, and he shipped the pot.

Level 23 : 8,000/15,000, 0 ante
Andrey Zaichenko - 5th Place
Andrey Zaichenko - 5th Place

Andrey Zaichenko doubled a handful of times, grinding his short stack masterfully, but in the end he couldn't do better than 5th place.

In his last hand, Zaichenko got the remainder of his chips in the middle preflop with {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} against Darren Woods' {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. The board ran {j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{k-Clubs}, and Zaichenko was eliminated from the tournament.

Nguyen Bets Kuzmin Out

Level 23 : 8,000/15,000, 0 ante

Alexander Kuzmin raised to start the hand, Kim Nguyen made it three bets, and Kuzmin called. The dealer fanned {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and Kuzmin check-called a bet. Kuzmin check-called a second bet on the turn ({3-Spades}), but opted to check-fold after the {6-Spades} was dealt on the river.

Nguyen took the pot, and is back above half a million chips.

Zaichenko Hits the River to Stay Alive

Three players saw a flop of {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and short-stacked Andrey Zaichenko bet, leaving himself just one chip behind. Alex Kuzmin quickly folded and Kim Nguyen raised. Zaichenko made the call and discovered he was behind.

Nguyen: {9-}{7-Spades}
Zaichenko: {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

The {2-Clubs} turn left Zaichenko drawing to a ten on the river. Hitting three outers has been easy for Zaichenko as of late, and he did it again as the {10-Clubs} spiked! Needless to say, both Zaichenko and his rail erupted in cheers of celebration.

Good as Golb

Level 23 : 8,000/15,000, 0 ante

Andrey Zaichenko put his new chips to work right away, raising on the button. Sam Golbuff raised from the small blind, Alexander Kuzmin cold-called in the big blind, and Zaichenko called as well.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Golbuff led out. Both Zaichenko and Kuzmin called.

The turn was the {a-Hearts}, and Golbuff led again. Kuzmin folded, Zaichenko called, and the river was the {8-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

Golbuff opened {a-}{6-} for aces and sixes, and shipped the pot.

Zaichenko Doubles . . . Twice

A short-stacked Andrey Zaichenko raised all in from under the gun and received some protection as Alexander Kuzmin three-bet from the button. The blinds got out of the way and the cards turned up.

Zaichenko: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Kuzmin: {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out a clean {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{A-Spades} and Zaichenko doubled.

Two hands later, Zaichenko got all in again preflop with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and was ahead the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} of Samuel Golbuff. He was in good shape to double yet again, especially after the flop fell {6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}; however, the {J-Hearts} turn hit Golbuff and left Zaichenko drawing to a queen. Wouldn't you know it, the {Q-Clubs} spiked on the river to save Zaichenko's tournament life, much to the delight of his supporters in the crowd.

Zaichenko Short Again

Level 23 : 8,000/15,000, 0 ante

Andrey Zaichenko raised, and was called by Alexander Kuzmin (small blind) and Kim Nguyen (big blind). The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and Kuzmin and Nguyen checked to Zaichenko who bet. Only Nguyen called, and the turn was the {j-Hearts}.

Nguyen checked, Zaichenko bet, Nguyen raised, and Zaichenko thought for a bit before re-raising. Nguyen called.

The river was the {4-Clubs}, and Nguyen check-called a bet. Zaichenko opened {2-}{2-} for a pair of deuces, but they were no good against Nguyen's {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for a pair of aces.
