Hellmuth Can't Handle The Nuts

We came into the hand when the river had already been dealt and the board read out {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Hellmuth had put out a bet of 3,500 from the big blind and the player on the button had re-raised to 10,000. Hellmuth tanked for no less than seven minutes as he contemplated the call, stacking and re-stacking his chips etc. Eventually he pushed the call in and the button showed {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a rivered nut flush. Hellmuth threw his hands up in disgust and muttered various profanities under his breath. He was only left with 1,500 or one and a half big blinds.

Two hands later, he elected to just call the big blind, but the small blind raised to 1,500 and the big blind called. Phil called too and he was all in.

The flop came out {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and both players checked.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the small blind bet 1,500 with the big blind calling.

The river was the {2-Diamonds} which put four diamonds on the board. The small blind bet 3,500 but the big blind raised it up to 8,000 and the small blind threw it away.

The big blind showed {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for the rivered nut flush which of course infuriated Hellmuth and he stormed off, most likely to go register the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship.
