Eugene Katchalov Eliminated in 4th Place, ($50,993)

Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov was crippled by the cooler that we reported earlier, and Dale Eberle, the man who delivered that cooler, has knocked out Katchalov, ending his quest for a second bracelet in 2011. Eberle and Katchalov got in a raising war preflop that saw Katchalov get all his chips in. It was a race, and Katchalov was the one that would need to catch.

Eberle: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Katchalov: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The flop didn't help Katchalov much, coming {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The turn brought a few more outs, coming the {a-Hearts}. Katchalov would need a king, queen, or ten on the river, but it came the {4-Diamonds}. Katchalov shook hands with everyone, and left the table clearly dejected. He will have to wait another day for his second gold bracelet.

Jacqmin Extends Lead

Mathieu Jacqmin put in a raise in the small blind, and Dale Eberle called in the big. The flop came {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and Jacqmin led out. Eberle raised, and Jacqmin called. The turn came the {2-Spades}, and Jacqmin checked. Eberle bet, and Jacqmin called. Both players checked the {a-Spades}, and Jacqmin showed {k-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a pair of twos. Eberle said "I missed" and showed {8-}{5-}. Jacqmin won the hand, and extends his lead even further.

Katchalov Coolered, Eberle Doubles

Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katcalov raised it up from the cutoff, and was re-raised by Dale Eberele in the big blind. Katchalov re-raised again and Eberle made the call.

The flop came down {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} Eberle checked, Katchalov bet, Eberle re-raised, and Katchalov called. The turn came {7-Diamonds} Eberle bet, Katchalov raised, and Eberle called all in. Eberle showed {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for top two pair, and Katchalov showed his superior preflop hand, {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} The river was the {6-Hearts} and Katchalov shook his head as all of his chips were pushed to Eberle and he doubled up. Katchalov only has 250,000 after the hand and Eberle doubled to 700,000.

Katchalov was in a similar situation going into heads-up play of Day 1, so he is used to the short stack and isn't out of it yet.

Jordan Rich Eliminated In 5th Place ($38,268)

Jordan Rich
Jordan Rich

Jordan Rich was sitting with about 400,000 before he was crippled and then eliminated in subsequent hands.

In the hand that crippled him, Rich raised it up in the small blind, and Mathieu Jacqmin re-raised in the big blind, Rich called.

The flop came down {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} Rich checked, Jacqmin bet out 30,000, Rich check-raised to 60,000, Jacqmin re-raised again to 90,000 and Rich called.

The turn came {10-Spades} Rich checked, Jacqmin bet, Rich check-raised again and Jacqmin called.

The river came {j-Diamonds} Rich bet, Jacqmin raised, and Rich made the call leaving him with only 50,000 more behind. Jacqmin showed {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a full house and all Rich could do was shake his head and muck.

The next hand, Rich was all in preflop and was called by Dale Eberle and Eugene Katchalov. The flop came down {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} Eberle bet out, Katchalov folded, and Eberle showed his {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Rich had {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and was in trouble. The turn {4-Diamonds} and river {k-Spades} were no help and he is our fifth place finisher. We are now four-handed with Mathieu Jacqmin in the chip lead.

Rich Slipping

Jordan Rich has lost about 1/3 of his chips in the last few hands, and he is now the one who is in trouble of going out next. In the first hand, Justin Pechie came in for a raise in the small blind, and Rich three bet from the big blind. Pechie called, and the flop came {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Pechie check called Rich's bet, and the turn came the {6-Clubs}. Both players checked, and the river came {10-Spades}. Pechie bet, and Rich called, then mucked when Pechie showed {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for two pair.

A few hands later, Dale Eberle raised in early position, and Rich once again three bet in the big blind. Eberle called, and the flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Rich led out, and Eberle raised. Rich called, and they saw the turn come the {9-Clubs}. Rich check called Eberle's bet, and the river came the {6-Hearts}. Both players checked, and Eberle showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Rich mucked, and he is now dropped to around 400,000.

Stephen Bass
Stephen Bass

Stephen Bass started the hand with only 125,000 chips and is now our sixth place finisher.

Preflop, Mathieu Jacqmin raised it up from middle position and Bass re-raised from the small blind. Justin Pechie called as did Jacqmin.

The flop came down {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Bass threw in 30,000 to bet with only 5,000 behind. Pechie made the call, but Jacqmin raised it up and Bass called to be all in. Pechie folded to get out of the way and Jacqmin showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for the flopped top pair. Bass showed {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and was in trouble. The turn was the {q-Hearts} and the river was the {6-Spades} giving him no help and sending him to the rail in sixth. Jacqmin took down the pot and is up to 1,500,000 and the chip lead.

Eberle Doubles Through Rich

Just about 30 minutes ago, Dale Eberle was all in for his last 50,000, which at the time was just 2.5 big blinds. After stealing a handful of pots, and doubling up through Jordan Rich, he is now back to around 700,000. Eberle raised in early position, and Rich called in the big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and Rich checked. Eberle bet out, and Rich raised. Eberle wasn't deterred, and put out another bet. Rich opted to call, and they saw the {a-Spades} hit the turn. The players got in a raising war that saw Eberle commit the rest of his chips.

Eberle: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Rich: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Both players had trip aces, but Eberle had the better kicker. The river brought the {2-Spades}, and Eberle took the big pot to double up back into contention.
