Volpe Power

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Darryl Ronconi opened the pot to 6,000, but he wouldn't get to see the flop. Ryan Young three-bet to 18,000, and Ben Volpe reraised to 39,500. Young was the only one to call, and the two of them took a {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop. Volpe continued out with a smallish bet of 29,500, and Young flatted to see the {7-Clubs} turn. Check-check, and the {Q-Clubs} landed on the river. Volpe checked it again, and Young took his cue to make a bet at the pot, 85,000 straight. Volpe toyed with the call for a while, eventually sliding the chips into the middle.

Young threw his cards toward the muck, and Volpe showed down {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} to take the pot. He asked to see the folded cards, but the dealer instead grabbed them and pulled them completely into the muck! Volpe was a little miffed by that, and the floor was called over. Young wasn't volunteering any information, and the cards were irretrievable by that point, lost forever in the shuffle.

Volpe doesn't get the information, but he does get the chips, climbing into second place with about 435,000 now.
