Hellmuth Extends Lead

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 15,000 ante

Hand #52

Brian Rast had the button, the action folded to him and he raised to 140,000. Owais Ahmed defended his big blind, and the flop fell {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. Ahmed led for 240,000, Rast released, and Ahmed won the pot.

Hand #53

Phil Hellmuth had the button, it folded to him, and he raised to 180,000. The blinds released, and Hellmuth won the pot.

Hand #54

Owais Ahmed had the button, Phil Hellmuth opened to 120,000 from the cutoff, Minh Ly called in the small blind, and Matt Glantz defended his big. The flop was {3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, Ly checked, Glantz bet 225,000, and Hellmuth asked for Glantz's count.

"About two and a half," Glantz answered.

Hellmuth called, and Ly folded. The turn was the {q-Diamonds}.

Glantz tanked, then bet 350,000. Hellmuth reached for chips, put his hands on his face, then reached back for his stack. He cut out enough chips to make the call, and slid them forward.

The river was the {6-Clubs}, and Glantz checked for the first time. Hellmuth reached for a handful of T25,000 chips, and bet 475,000 - less than a third of the pot. Glantz paused, riffling chips in his right hand and staring at the board.

Two minutes passed, and Glantz leaned back in his chair, placing both hands on his head. His gaze wandered to Hellmuth for the first time, but then returned to the board. Hellmuth remained still.

Glantz finally folded, Hellmuth's hand hit the muck immediately, and the 11-time WSOP champion raked in the pot.

"Show the bluff!" Brian Rast pleaded.

"I had him drawing dead," Hellmuth said cooly.
