Get to Know "Mojito" Mickey
When it comes to the poker media, nary a member has not heard the name Mickey Doft. Doft, who is known to some as either “Mojito Mickey” or “mrdoft,” has been coming to the World Series of Poker for years, not to play, but to report. That’s right, Doft is a tournament reporter extraordinaire. What’s more, he is also quite the Razz aficionado.
A padawan to the knowledgeable Jason Sackler, who is also in today’s field, Doft has been testing his Razz skills in this very event for years against the likes of Barry Greenstein, Jen Harman and Berry Johnston.
While a WSOP cash has eluded Doft thus far, he is primed and focused to make it a reality. Today he is seated at Table 366 today alongside the voluptuous Lacey Jones and lyricist supreme Brett Richey, though his attentions are focused on nothing else but sending them to the rail.
For those who wish to learn a little more about “Mojito Mickey,” let us tell you his tale. Born on June 10, 1985, young Doft grew up in Aventura, Florida, a place he still calls home. After graduating from Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach, Florida, Doft packed up shop and headed north to attend Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Years later, in 2007 to be exact, Doft graduated after studying history and business. Then, in April of 2008, Doft became a part of PokerNews and has been live reporting for that outlet ever since.
Aside from poker, Doft enjoys watching hockey highlights, chocolate milk, rollerblading in the neighborhood, and enjoying some ice cream on a hot Florida night.
