Antonio Esfandiari Eliminated in 3rd Place ($151,613)

Antonio Esfandiari - 3rd Place

After being crippled in the previous hand, Antonio Esfandiari got his entire stack in the middle holding {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} but was crushed by Craig McCorkell's {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

The flop of {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades} was of no help to Esfandiari. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} giving Esfandiari diamond outs as well as the three remaining nines. Esfandiari's rail screamed for a diamond to river, but alas, the {A-Spades} fell and Esfandiari was sent packing in third place.

Fitzpatrick Catches Seven; Cripples Esfandiari

It seemed that it was just a few minutes ago that Antonio Esfandiari was steamrolling this final table. Now, after doubling up Craig McCorkell, Esfandiari got it all in once again. This time it was Jeremiah Fitzpatrick's life on the line.

After a series of preflop raises, Fitzpatrick got it all in with {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and was crushed by Esfandiari's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Heartbreak came on the flop of {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Esfandiari was unable to catch back up when the turn came {j-Hearts} and the river {5-Hearts}. This crippling two outer left Esfandiari with only a million in chips when he once had over 4,000,000.

Let's Make A Deal
Let's Make A Deal

The action was paused for a couple minutes when the some of the WSOP Floor Supervisors came to the stage. They pulled Jeremiah Fitzpatrick and Craig McCorkell aside to discuss something with them.

We could only hear that something was overheard on the live stream and the WSOP does not endorse what was discussed. We could call it a "stern reminder" of some of the rules.

The players returned to their seats nodding.

Antonio Esfandiari opened for 125,000 on the button and Jeremiah Fitzpatrick moved all in from the small blind for 1.545 million.

When Fitzpatrick has been all in today he stares straight down at the board and doesn't respond to any kind of prodding from the table.

Esfandiari leaned forward to stare at him and Fitzpatrick turned slightly to his left, away from Esfandiari.

Esfandiari responded by leaning way to his right, almost in the lap the of the dealer to get a view of Fitzpatrick. He responded by turning even more to his left.

Esfandiari smiled and let his hand go.

Updated Counts After Fitzpatrick Takes Some From Esfandiari

Antonio Esfandiari raised to 90,000 from the small blind and Jeremiah Fitzpatrick called out of the big.

The flop was {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Esfandiari fired 105,000. Fitzpatrick called and the {Q-Spades} turned. This time Esfandiari made it 155,000 and once again received a call.

The river was the {7-Clubs} and both players checked. Esfandiari meekly tabled {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Fitzpatrick showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for a turned pair of queens that took down the pot.
