Aussie, Aussie

David Steicke & Marsha Waggoner
David Steicke & Marsha Waggoner

"Floor!" Chris Tryba yelled a while back. "Is it against the rules to have two Australians at the same table?"

Tryba was joking, of course, but he is faced with two tough Aussies to his left — David Steicke and Marsha Waggoner. We just watched them play a heads-up pot for Waggoner's tournament life.

Steicke: (x-x) / {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} / (x)
Waggoner: (x-x) / {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} / (x)

Steicke led the betting the whole way, firing bullets every chance he got. Waggoner's final call put her all in for what looked like 6,500.

"Two pair," Steicke announced as he showed {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} / {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts}.

No good. Waggoner showed trips with {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} / {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, and she's doubled her way up to about 69,000. Steicke is now the shorter of the two Aussies, sitting with 51,000 chips.
