Hand #230: Merson's Two Pair Is Better Than Balsiger's

Level 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 150,000 ante
The Final Three: Jake Balsiger, Greg Merson, Jesse Sylvia
The Final Three: Jake Balsiger, Greg Merson, Jesse Sylvia

Jake Balsiger had the button to start this hand. Jesse Sylvia wasn't present for the deal as he was talking to his rail and his hand was mucked from the big blind. Balsiger raised to two million, and Greg Merson made the call from the small blind.

The flop came down {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and Merson checked. Balsiger bet two million, and Merson called.

The {5-Diamonds} came on the turn, and both players checked to see the {3-Clubs} pair the board on the river. Merson was first and bet 3.6 million. Balsiger called.

Merson showed the {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for two pair, jacks and threes. Balsiger showed the {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} for a weaker two pair and lost the pot. Balsiger is now under 25 million in chips.
