River Ace Sinks Mefodichev

Gaelle Baumann had opened for a raise from middle position, and when it folded to Vladimir Mefodichev on the button he checked his cards, then declared he was all in. The blinds folded, and once a count determined the raise was to 415,000, Baumann quickly called.

Mefodichev: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Baumann: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Mefodichev stood at his seat to watch the community cards come while Baumann remained seated. The flop came {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Mefodichev was still good. But the river brought the {A-Spades} and "ooohs" from the players and those watching. Baumann had paired her ace, meaning the Russian's WSOP Main Event run had ended. Mefodichev kept smiling, though, leaning over to shake Baumann's hand and wishing everyone good luck before leaving.

Baumann continues her rise here on Day 5, and with about 125 players left she continues to hold onto a spot near the top of the counts.
