An Orbit With Phil Hellmuth

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth is currently chasing what would be his 12th World Series of Poker gold bracelet, and is always talkative when he's in a good mood. We decided to spend an orbit at his table, and despite not playing very many hands, it was fun nonetheless.

Hand 1: The action folds to Hellmuth, who raises from the hijack seat. The players fold behind him, and Hellmuth picks up the pot.

Hand 2: Hellmuth folds, and puts both of his Bose earphones on.

Hand 3: Hellmuth folds, but before the cards are dealt, Mike Matusow strolls by.

"Mikey!" Hellmuth squeals.

"What did you do?" Matusow asked him quizzically. "Go all in and win every hand?"

"Yes," Hellmuth responded grinning - he must've been very short recently.

Hand 4: Hellmuth folds again, but begins talked with David Chiu, who's at an adjacent table.

"Heyyyyyyy Phil," Chiu says.

"Hey buddy," Hellmuth responds.

Hellmuth then gets up from his chair, and begins discussing a bet with Chiu. Walking away, he tells Chiu, "It has to be for a lotta money though."

"Yen," Chiu responds. "Not dollars."

Hellmuth laughs. "Yen can be spent well.

Hand 5: Hellmuth folds.

Hand 6: Hellmuth folds.

Hand 7: Hellmuth (small blind) calls a raise from a player in early position. The flop falls {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, and Hellmuth checks. The original raiser continues, and Hellmuth immediately check-raises. His opponent re-raises all in, and Hellmuth quickly calls.

Hellmuth{a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Opponent{a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}

"Wow!" Hellmuth exclaims. "I don't even have any backdoor outs."

The turn and river came {3-Hearts}, {10-Spades} respectively, and Hellmuth's opponent doubled.

Hand 8: Hellmuth folds, and Chiu shouts from the other table, telling Hellmuth not to overplay aces.

Hand 9: Hellmuth Folds.
