Pope's Run Good Continues

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Trevor Pope

In the first open event of the summer, Trevor Pope put on a performance unlike any we had ever seen, when he absolutely dominated the end of Event #2 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Eight Handed. Well he has channeled a bit of that hot streak in a hand we just saw, where he doubled up on the river.

Action started with a middle position raise to 400, and Pope moved all in for his last 3,250. The player right behind him then shoved all in over the top, having Pope slightly covered. Pope said that he hoped he had live cards, and when the hands were revealed, he saw that he was indeed drawing very life.

Pope: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

"I tend to run good in these spots just so you know," Pope joked with his opponent. The flop brought plenty of action, coming down {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Pope could now catch a king, queen, or eight to win the hand, and while the turn didn't do that, the {5-Spades}, the river did, coming down the {k-Hearts}. Pope and a couple table mates shared a laugh over his continued good luck, and he secured the double up just over an hour before dinner break.
