The Heads-Up Match That Will Never End
We'd been keeping an eye on Table 434 over the last couple of levels, as Eric Baldwin and Matt Waxman had both been seated there across from one another in seats 2 and 5. Baldwin and Waxman have been spending a lot of time sharing tables at this year's WSOP, starting with their epic heads-up duel to conclude Event #7: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em.
Waxman won that battle to earn his first bracelet and deny Baldwin his second. Since then they've wound up playing against each other in other events, and just now when Table 434 broke they nodded across to one another as they prepared to find their new seats.
"We'll see each other soon again," said Waxman. "I hope so," said Baldwin.
Waxman lingered a moment longer to exchange some small talk with the tourney director before finding his seat, eventually winding his way to the empty 6 seat on Table 438. He hesitated just a moment before sitting down, having spotted the player sitting in seat 5... Baldwin.
They both laughed before commencing yet another battle at the 2013 WSOP.
