DeWitt Finds a Call
Jason DeWitt and Steven Buckner started on the same table today in the Amazon Room. Their table broke early in the afternoon, but the pair soon found themselves together again at another table on the other side of the spacious ballroom and have been playing and watching each other all day.
The pair's history ended up being relevant to a recent hand which we caught up with on the river, at which point about 25,000 was in the middle and the board read .
After a DeWitt check Buckner had fired 17,500, and as we arrived DeWitt was amid a long think that ended with him making the call. When he did, Buckner immediately removed the unlit cigar from his mouth to speak.
"I got caught," he said, tabling his . DeWitt then showed his , and Buckner expressed amazement that DeWitt had called his river bet with the hand he held.
"I haven't shown one bluff all day," said Buckner. "We been playing together since noon… that's a sick call." DeWitt shook his head and grinned, agreeing it had been a struggle for him to find the call.
