Polychronopoulos Continues to Climb

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante
Athanasios Polychronopoulos
Athanasios Polychronopoulos

Athanasios Polychronopoulos recently finished second in the $10,000 WSOP National Championship, narrowly missing out on his second bracelet as a result. He's looking to make amends for that close call here in Las Vegas and is doing his chances of glory no harm so far.

We saw Polychronopoulos' staring down his opponent as he waited for the big blind to act on a {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Spades} flop. The player in the big blind checked, prompting a 450 bet from Polychronopoulos, who then went back to staring. Whether it was his intense gaze or the lack of a playable hand from the big blind is unknown, but the big blind folded and Polychronopoulos boosted his stack to almost 9,000 chips.

Elsewhere, Russell Crane, Marvin Rettenmaier and Jimmy Fricke all have more chips than what they started with, Fricke in particular finding himself with an above average stack.
