Two-Time Bracelet Winner Steve Sung Leads After Day 2

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Day 2 Chip Leader Steve Sung
Day 2 Chip Leader Steve Sung

The penultimate day of Event #60: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em is in the books with 24 hopefuls remaining. The day began just outside of the money, with 293 players vying for a spot in the money and a chance at World Series of Poker gold.

Leading the way after Day 2 was Steve Sung with 1,132,000 in chips. Sung began the day in the middle of the pack with 66,700. The California native is no stranger to WSOP glory. Sung has two no-limit hold’em WSOP gold bracelets and 25 WSOP cashes totaling $2,689,443.

One of Sung’s biggest hands came with the elimination of another big-stacked player. Sung had the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} versus his opponent's {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}. A {6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop gave Sung a slew of outs, and the turn was the {3-Clubs} followed by the {A-Hearts} on the river.

Also bagging top stacks on Day 2 were French pro Erwann Pecheux (780,000), Thomas Dietl (774,000), and Kenneth Gregersen (770,000). Other notables include Cherish Andrews, Evan McNiff, Ty Reiman, Scott Baumstein, and Zach Gruneberg that will all return for Day 3's action.

Join us on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Amazon Room where play will resume and a new champion will be crowned. Thank you for following along the PokerNews coverage and stay tuned for more WSOP action as things work towards a winner in the 60th bracelet event of the summer.
