Hellmuth Takes Out an Old Rival
The 2012 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event ended in an epic battle between Phil Hellmuth and Ukrainian pro Sergii Baranov. Baranov and Hellmuth tangled both on the felt and verbally, which created highly entraining poker.
Just now Baranov was knocked out again by Hellmuth as the Ukrainian was all in for his final 400 chips on third street. Richard Ashby had completed, Baranov called all in, and Hellmuth called as well.
On fourth street Baranov cheered as he paired, Hellmuth bet, and Ashby called. On fifth Hellmuth bet again into Ashby's strong looking board, and Baranov didn't like where this was going. Ashby folded and the showdown went as follows:
Hellmuth: / /
Ashby: / --fold
Baranov: / /
When the cards were turned over on fifth, Baranov was in the lead with two pair, but Hellmuth had caught up with him on sixth. Baranov was knocked out and Hellmuth took the pot down.
