Fun with Filatov

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Anatoly Filatov is one of a number of Russian players who are regulars on the European Poker Tour. Recently, he came second in the Grand Final at Monte Carlo for $ 92,656. His countrymen may have a reputation for a somewhat taciturn demeanor, but Filatov is usually all smiles and happy to engage in table talk.

Filatov opened from late position for 400 and when the player to his left called, he grinned and said, “Uh oh.” The big blind came along as well and three players saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}. Checked to Filatov, he bet 700 and the player in the big blind was the only caller.

They both checked the turn {9-Hearts} and on the river {10-Clubs} Filatov faced a bet of 825. “That’s the worst I’ve ever seen in my life,” joked the Russian, running through the hands that beat him in a thick accent before folding. We’re not quite sure what the table makes of him so far, but they should prepare for plenty more of the same.
