Taylor Paur Takes Big Chip Lead Into Day 4 of THE MARATHON
After six levels of 100 minutes each, 60 players have made it through to Day 4 of Event #24: $2,620 THE MARATHON No-Limit Hold’em. The five-day tournament trudges on, as it shed another sizable portion of the 246 players that started the day. When chips were bagged for the night, it was WSOP bracelet winner Taylor Paur who dominated his tables during the later levels. Paur bagged 2,958,000 in chips, which makes him the chipleader by a wide margin.
Trailing him by almost 100 big blinds is Anton Morgenstern with 1,775,000 and Mark Sleet with 1,550,000. Closing out the top five are Hiep Doan and Jonas Mackoff with 1,442,000 and 1,356,000 in chips, respectively.
There is no shortage of notable players to follow for Day 4 though as players like Michael Addamo (1,096,000), Matt Affleck (884,000), Julien Sitbon (868,000), WSOP Main Event Champions Martin Jacobson (811,000) and Scotty Nguyen (483,000), 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman (445,000), Stoyan Obreshkov (769,000), Cate Hall (574,000) and Martin Staszko (516,000) all made it through to the penultimate day.
Unfortunately, not everyone managed to bag their chips at the end of the day. Even though money was already locked up, some of the players that would have hoped to cash more in the end included Sam Cohen, JP Kelly, Marvin Rettenmaier, Govert Metaal, Kristen Bicknell, Pierre Merlin, David Peters, Andre Akkari, Jesse Sylvia, Ryan Riess, and Chance Kornuth.
The 60 remaining players will return at noon local time on Thursday, June 14, to play seven 100-minute levels. There will be a 15-minute break after each level with a 60-minute dinner after the fourth level. When the players return, they will play with a small blind of 6,000, big blind of 12,000 and a running ante of 2,000.
