Big Names Still in Contention as Shalom Leads $1,500 Razz Day 2

Victor Shalom
Victor Shalom

Victor Shalom may be topping the chip counts ahead of Day 2 of Event #50: $1,500 Razz, but there is still a lot of competition in the field including two former champions and 45 bracelets' worth of talent.

Max Pescatori won the first of his two bracelets in the $1,500 Razz back in 2015, while Ted Forrest defeated Phil Hellmuth heads-up one year earlier.

Also still in the field is the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller champion Shaun Deeb, and he is joined by the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship runner-up John Hennigan. The pair are currently first and second, respectively, in the 2018 WSOP Player of the Year standings, separated by just 60 points.

Last year's final tablists Benny Glaser and Phil Hellmuth who finished fifth and sixth, respectively, are also still in the hunt. Multiple bracelet winners Brandon Cantu, Chris Bjorin, Barry Greenstein and John Cernuto are also present ahead of Day 2.

The money bubble will burst today, with just 59 players guaranteed a payout of at least $2,244. The winner of Event #50: $1,500 Razz will take home $125,431 and a WSOP gold bracelet.

Play gets back underway at 2 p.m. local time and you can catch all the action right here on PokerNews
