Ferguson Doubles With Aces

Level 9 : 300/600, 100 ante

When we arrived at the table, there was a huge pile of chips in the middle and one player was standing up to make his exit. The board read {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and one player was showing {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} while the other held {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} for quads.

The next hand, Chris Ferguson raised to 1,200 from under the gun, the winner of the previous pot three-bet to 3,000 from the cutoff, Ferguson jammed for 9,975, and his opponent called to put him at risk.

Ferguson: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Ferguson's opponent found himself on the unfortunate end of the ultimate preflop cooler and needed help from the deck to win. The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Ferguson took the pot to double up.

Hellmuth Felted

Level 9 : 300/600, 100 ante
Phil Hellmuth earlier this summer

When we arrived at the table, Phil Hellmuth had posted 600 of his 625 chips for his big blind. A player in middle position shoved and action folded around to Hellmuth who called to put himself at risk.

"I've got a seven," said Hellmuth as he flipped over the {7-Spades}.

"I have a seven, too" his opponent replied.

"That's bad for me,"

Phil Hellmuth: {7-Spades}{2-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{A-Hearts} which missed both players entirely and Hellmuth's opponent took the pot.

Davies More Than Triples

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Scott Davies raised to 1,525 from middle position, leaving himself a single T-25 chip behind. Both blinds called.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and the small blind bet 1,525. The big blind folded.

"I feel committed to this pot," said Davies as he tossed in his last remaining chip.

Scott Davies: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Small blind: {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Davies had the best of it by far with aces up and his opponent needed a lot of help from the deck to stack him. The {J-Diamonds} on the turn gave the small blind a flush draw.

"Ayyyy, dios mio!" Davies exclaimed in response.

The final card was the {Q-Clubs}, a safe one for Davies, so he took the pot.

Rockowitz Lets It Go

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

There was a substantial pot already brewing and the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop was out when we got to the table. Jesse Rockowitz had already committed 1,300 chips from the button and was facing a decision for what looked like 5,000 from the player in the big blind. After a bit of time in the tank, Rockowitz called.

The {10-Spades} hit the turn and the big blind shoved, putting Rockowitz to a decision for his stack. He went into the tank for over a minute before he folded and his opponent took the pot.
