Jon Turner Dominates Day 1b of $365 GIANT No-Limit Hold'em
Day 1b of Event #6: $365 GIANT No-Limit Hold'em attracted 969 entrants who created a $117,052 prize pool. 146 players secured a min-cash of $557. Once the bubble burst, the remaining day brought many casualties to reduce the surviving field to just 53 players.
Jon Turner bagged the chip lead with 2,265,000 after making a crazy comeback. He went from less than a blind to ending the day as massive chip leader.
"I was all in blind at some point, I had less than a blind left, I had 1,700,'' Turner commented. When asked how he managed to rebuild to such a massive stack, he said: ''I won a few flips. Jacks vs ace-king twice.'' Aces vs king-queen'' he added.
Turner has 59 cashes and $1,235,652 in earnings at the WSOP. He will be looking to win his first WSOP bracelet. Another notable player who survived Day 1b was Matt Salsberg, who bagged 205,000.
Some of the players that gave it a shot, but didn't find a bag in today's flight are Felipe Mojave, Barry Greenstein and Chris Ferguson.
Among those who will be back for Day 2 on June 30 are Matas Cikinas (1,570,000), Joel Gossett (915,000), Ray Medlin (945,000) and Roy Shimada (825,000). Three more starting flights are scheduled for the GIANT, across the next three Fridays as Day 1c takes place on June 15 and Day 1d on June 22 while the last chance to make it through will be on Day 1e (June 29). Survivors from all five starting days will then return on Saturday, June 30 at 12 p.m. to continue playing for the WSOP bracelet.
