Day 2 of Event #26: THE MARATHON - $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em is Set to Begin
The action for Day 2 of Event #24: $2,620 THE MARATHON No-Limit Hold'em is set to kick off at 12:00 p.m local time at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino. A field of 941 players took their seats on Day 1 and 467 runners found a bag to return on Day 2. With registration being still available for the first two levels of day 2 (≈ 4:50 p.m.), more players will be entering this event.
Peter Hong bagged the chip lead on Day 1 with a stack of 179,000 chips. He is followed closely by Christoper Godfrey with 177,200 and Scott Menard with 171,700.
Note that following the lead of Corentin Ropert holding 134,300, a contingent of 18 french players managed to stay in the run for Day 2, including Sylvain Loosli, who finished fourth in the 2014 Main Event and Paul-Francois Tedeschi (57,700) who will try to reach the 23rd WSOP cash of his career.
And since it is about the Marathon, the Greek nation, at the origin of the famous run after the Athenian army defeated the invading Persian army in a battle in the plain of Marathon in 490 B.C., is still represented by Alexandros Theologis (81,800), Kyriakos Papadopouluos (37,400) and the Greek-American Athanasios Polychronopoulos (24,400), owner of two WSOP bracelets.
Some of the notables that will come into Day 2 include former WSOP bracelet winners include 2006 Main Event Champion Jamie Gold (50,200), Andre Akkari (50,900), Eric Baldwin(49,300) Nial Farrell(41,800), Gaurav Raina (41,300), Adrian Mateos (32,300), Mario Prats Garcia (30,100), Diogo Veiga (24,900), Christopher Frank (22,700) and Kristen Bickell who will need some luck to improve her short stack of 6,500. They all will all be looking to add more gold to their collection.
When play resumes today, the blinds will be at 300/600 with a 600 ante. Blinds will increase every 100 minutes and six more levels will be played. There will be a 15-minute break at the end of every level and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 4, around 8:20 p.m.
