Siegel Triples

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Jordan Siegel was down to his last 9,000 and jammed it in from under the gun. He received calls from Yueqi Zhu in the cutoff and Hanh Tran in the big blind. All three players drew two cards and Zhu and Tran checked to the second draw. Second draws went two, one, two and Tran checked to Zhu, who bet and forced a fold from Tran.

With the pot heads up now between Siegel and Zhu, Siegel took one card on the final draw and asked Zhu if he was going to stand pat. Zhu said he wasn't sure and that he had to check his hand. Siegel asked him to stand pat for the sweat and Zhu complied.

Yueqi Zhu: {j-}{8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

Upon Zhu tabling his hand, Siegel's tablemates informed him that he had a made jack and that Siegel was drawing to beat it. They told him another jack would would secure the victory as well, and he responded by saying he had just thrown one away. With the stage set for Siegel to triple up or bust, he checked his final card.

"I've got it," he said turning over a {7-} to improve to an eight-low and regain some life.
