Third Edition of $2,500 Mixed Big Bet Kicks Off Today at WSOP

One of the younger events on the World Series of Poker schedule, the $2,500 Mixed Big Bet, first featured in 2017. Now it's time to find its third champion who will join Jens Lakemeier and Scott Bohlman as a champion of this intensely dynamic event.

Running June 18-20, 2019, the tournament will boast a mix of four flop and three draw games featured in the rotation.

Along with mainstream disciplines of No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha, players' abilities will be also tested in two split-pot games: Big O and PLO-8. The draw games include NL 5-Card Draw High, NL 2-7 Draw, and PL 2-7 Triple Draw.

In all, the Big Bet Mix promises a ton of hefty pots and a dramatic action from start to finish. Lakemeier's and Bohlman's victorious runs serve as a testament to the incredible dynamics of this event format.

Lakemeier needed fewer than 20 hands to sweep the five-handed final table in 2017. Last year saw Bohlman destroy Day 2 to reach the final five with 60 percent of all chips in play. He needed less than four hours to close things out.

While the inaugural edition was played as a freezeout, the Mixed Big Bet allowed a single re-entry in 2018 and the same applies for this year's contest. The starting stack has been increased to 15,000 (from 12,500), and the levels remain 60-minute long.

Come back to PokerNews at 3 p.m. PDT to follow the live updates from the first 10-hour session of the big bet action.
