Event #47: $1,000/$10,000 Ladies NLHE Championship Returns at Noon to Play Down to Final Six
Welcome back to the penultimate day of Event #47: $1,000/$10,000 Ladies No-Limit Holdem Championship which will restart at 12 noon local time in the Amazon room here at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Ladies week in Las Vegas is slowly coming to an end and so is this event. There were 968 entries in total and only 43 of them are left here at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker. Every player who returns to the felt today is guaranteed at least $3,309 but they will all be aiming for that first-place prize of $167,308 and the yearned for gold WSOP bracelet.
Starting the day at the forefront of the chipcounts is Canadas Tu Dao with 968,000 which is worth just over 60 big blinds. This is only Daos second cash ever and she has already surpassed her first cash which took place in 2005. Second in the chip counts is Nancy Matson with 856,000. Matson might only have two WSOP cashes, one of them came with a WSOP Circuit ring and $42,940 to put in her pocket. Also, she has many more cashes according to The Hendon Mob totaling to just over $165,000. And in third place is Veronica Brill with 853,000. Brill has had seven career cashes in live tournaments and this will be her best ever, no matter where she finishes, either today or tomorrow when its time to play down to a winner.
Lexy Gavin (pictured left) claimed 830,000 to her name last night. This is Gavins fifth cash of the summer which is coming close to her record seven cashes in last years WSOP but she will be doing her utmost to better all of those results. Closing out the top five chip counts at the start of the day is Vanessa Kade who had cashed three times here at the Rio during this series at the halfway point, but the Twitch streamer will be looking to make this the deepest run of all and will have plenty of supporters following her progress.
Katie Lindsay finished Day 2 with fewer chips than Day 1 but is still battling it out to claim her first bracelet. There are still two women left in the tournament who know how it feels like to win a bracelet, Jackie Glazier and Kathy Liebert. Glazier bagged 512,000 while Liebert put 315,000 in her bag last night. 888poker Ambassador Ana Marquez and the Day 1 chip leader Jennifer Lopez have both made it through with an above average stack. Last years runner-up Jill Pike is going for another deep run as is Lisa Fong, who finished in third place in 2018, although she has some work ahead for her as she is coming into the day as the absolute shortest stack of them all. Another runner-up still fighting for a spot at the final table is Deborah Worley-Roberts. Her 2017 finish was a great achievement, but she'll be targeting the WSOP bracelet this time.
When the players return to play down to the final six players in the Amazon room, action will resume at Level 21 which has a small blind of 8,000, big blind of 16,000, and a big blind ante of 16,000. A 15-minute break has been scheduled after every two levels with a 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level which should be at approximately 6:30 p.m. The final day will be streamed on CBS All Access and PokerGO from 1 p.m. local time so make sure to follow the PokerNews updates by the live reporting team to see who will be showing up on your screens at that time.
