Schwartz Closing in on First Bracelet as 13 Remain in Event #6

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Jake Schwartz
Jake Schwartz

Jake Schwartz didn't quite go wire to wire, but he followed up bagging the Day 1 chip lead by topping Day 2 of Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw at the 2019 World Series of Poker.

This time, of course, Schwartz finds himself considerably closer to the $160,447 top prize and the WSOP gold bracelet. With 50 cashes and over $500K in winnings, Schwartz has found a WSOP win elusive despite plenty of success at the Rio over the years.

Holding almost 20 percent of the total chips — 789,000 — and nearly 40 big bets for the start of Day 3, Schwartz has put himself in fantastic position for his first piece of WSOP gold.

Also among the 13 bagging were mixed-game stalwarts Mike Gorodinsky, Mark Gregorich, Dan Zack, Bryce Yockey and Jon Turner.

Of those, only Gorodinsky finds himself with an above average stack at 483,000. "Gordo" spent the middle portions of the day with the chip lead after he got seated with Julien Martini and got the better of the Frenchman in at least one large pot to set a course for a successful Day 2.

Martini would be among the players cashing, along with the likes of James Obst, Brandon Shack-Harris, David "ODB" Baker and Loren Klein, among others.

Chris Vitch, Jesse Martin, Jeff Lisandro, Alex Foxen and Anthony Zinno were some of the grinders busting without a share of the prize pool.

Play continues at 2 p.m. local time with the plan to play to a winner. Limits will be 10,000/20,000 upon the players' return, and this one will be unstreamed, so come back to PokerNews as your exclusive source of updates to find out who snags the first mixed-game bracelet of 2019.
