There were 1,117 hopefuls who began Day 1 yesterday and of those, 700 fell by the wayside, leaving 417 still in contention for the title, trophy, and the all-important money, with a very attractive $279,920 top prize up for grabs.

Ray Medlin (240,100), Richard Bai (225,200) and Danny Woolard (217,500) are the three players best placed to challenge for the title, with recent bracelet winner Ari Engel hot on their heels with 216,200. There are also a host of other big names still in contention with Scott Clements (148,000), Patrick Leonard (145,000), David Prociak (138,000), Paul Sokoloff (133,600), Jeremy Ausmus (131,200), James Obst (117,100), Daniel Idema (115,000), Ben Yu (114,600), Viacheslav Zhukov (111,700), Ivo Donev (108,000) all sat with a six-figure stack.

Yesterdays action wasnt as smooth for everyone, with some big names struggling to build a stack. Loren Klein (22,900), Jeff Lisandro (16,300), Michael Mizrachi (14,700) and Chris Ferguson (7,100) will be looking for an early spin up as they will return to Level 10, with blinds at 800/1,600. Blind levels remain at 60 minutes long and there will be a 15-minute break after two levels, except for the 60-minute dinner break at the end of Level 16 (around 8:30 p.m.).

As with yesterday, there are 10 levels on the schedule and players will start in the Pavillion and Miranda rooms, with tables breaking into the Miranda ballroom. PokerNews will bring you all the action as it happens, with live updates from start to finish.
