Set Over Set for Laak and Chan

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Phil Laak
Phil Laak

Tim Seidensticker raised to 26,000 and Phil Laak and Rodney Burt called from the hijack and cutoff respectively. Charles Chan was in the big blind and he came along too, making it four-handed to the flop.

On the {2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} board, there were checks all round and they headed on to the turn. It fell the {4-Diamonds}, bringing a second flush draw and Chan decided to lead for 110,000. Seidensticker passed, Laak moved all in for 216,000 total and Rodney Burt also moved aside before Chan called the rest.

Charles Chan: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Phil Laak: {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Clubs}

It was a set each but Chan's was the higher and Laak was looking to hit a spade to turn the pot around. The {j-Clubs} river didn't help him and his is left short after paying up. "I got nailed!" said Laak, who is left with seven big blinds.
