Event #63: $1,500 Mixed Omaha Begins at 3 p.m.

Welcome to PokerNews coverage of Event #63: $1,500 Mixed Omaha. The cards go in the air at 3 p.m. today, and this event is sure to attract a field of the world’s best omaha specialists. The three-game mix for this tournament includes Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, Limit Omaha Hi-Lo , and Big O (five-card Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo).

The game will change every eight hands, and today’s field will play 10 hour-long levels, with 15-minute breaks after every two levels. Late registration is available until the end of Level 8 (around 12 midnight local time), and one re-entry is available per player.

This event had a massive turnout last year, drawing 776 entries to make it the largest field ever for a mixed omaha event at the World Series of Poker. Yueqi Zhu came away with the title and the $211,781 first prize, outlasting Gabriel Ramos heads-up for his first career WSOP bracelet.

Three bracelet winners finished among the final eight last year, including Carol Fuchs (third place), Ryan Hughes (seventh place) and Nathan Gamble (eighth). Other top finishers included poker royalty like Phil Hellmuth (35th), Erik Seidel (43rd), and Barry Greenstein (53rd).

The 2019 edition of this event is scheduled to play out over four days, including full days of 10 levels today and Friday. The field will narrow to six players Saturday, with the final table scheduled for Sunday.
