Shaun Deeb and Chance Kornuth Bag Near the Top at the End of Day 1 of Event #80: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha
Day 1 of Event #80: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha at the 2019 World Series of Poker has come to an end. Chance Kornuth, who had just cashed in the World Series of Poker Main Event for $50,855, managed to end the day with 284,500 chips which is near the top. Shaun Deeb also bagged a decent stack of 257,400 chips after spinning things up near the end of the night.
There will be 340 of the 1,250 total entries returning at 12 p.m Thursday, July 11th, with only 188 of those reaching the money. A min-cash is worth $2,250 with the winner of the event taking home a prestigious WSOP gold bracelet and $304,793.
Deeb played aggressively to gain his chips in the last few levels of the night, including a hand where he raised Ryan McKnight with top pair and a third player in the hand jammed with an overpair. McKnight folded and Deeb ended up busting the all in player when he spiked trips on the river to put him over 170,000 chips.
Other players that navigated their way through the Day 1 field and advanced to Day 2 included, Pierce McKellar (274,000), Michael Policastro (253,000), Alexandru Papazian (190,000), Calvin Anderson (159,100), Kunal Patni (122,100), Esther Taylor (104,200), Brian Hastings (95,300), Allen Kessler (83,900), Barny Boatman (53,400), and Chris Moorman (26,100).
Not all of the well-known players were able to bag at the end of Day 1 as many were knocked out during proceedings. These included Greg Raymer, Vivian Saliba, Chris Ferguson, Ari Engel,Jonathan Little, and Craig Varnell.
