Today it's time for one of the tournaments that many players look forward to during the summer. Event #54: $10,000 Heads Up NLHE Championship will kick off at 6 p.m. UTC with a full field of 128 players trying to get to the semi-finals which will be played out on the following Saturday. One of the most anticipated tournaments during the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events had a cap of 128 players which was reached two days ago already.

Sean Swingruber won the championship in 2019 when he defeated Ben Yu heads-up. Players like Kristen Bicknell, Jake Schindler, and Matthias Eibinger reached the final eight last year and both Bicknell and Schindler are back in the race today.

GGPoker has changed things up for today and every player in this tournament will be playing under their real names instead of their nicknames. A tournament bracket will be set up about an hour before the start and will be posted once the dust of registrations has settled.

Felipe Ramos, Bertrand Grospellier, Daniel Negreanu, Fedor Holz, Pete Chen, Danny Tang, Michael Soyza, Thai Ha, and Guo Dong are some of the GG Network representatives who will be playing today together with players like Leon Tsoukernik, Dan Bilzerian, Fedor Kruse, Johan Gulbert and Michiel Van Elsacker.

When the players start their heads-up matches, they will get 60,000 chips in their starting stacks. The levels will go up every 12 minutes and start at 150/300 with no antes in play. The starting stacks will reset at the start of each round and five rounds will be played today until there are four players left. The regular 6-minute breaks will still take place at 55 minutes past each hour.

Sixteen players will get paid as long as the field remains full until the heads-up matches really start and the winner will walk away on Saturday, August 15 with$360,480 plus a WSOP Europe Package.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here from the first raise until the final match is over for today, so make sure to follow along.
