Level 15 : 60,000/120,000, 12,000 ante
Iyer doubles through Bicknell
Iyer doubles through Bicknell

Kristen Bicknell lost a race with ace-ten against the pocket fives of Abhinav "OBellaCiao" Iyer and both then clashed once more in an even bigger pot.

Abhinav "OBellaCiao" Iyer: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Kristen Bicknell: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

On a board of [Jh9c78d8s3c], Iyer flopped a set and turned an unbeatable full house to leave Bicknell short.

Sammartino Up to 6M

Level 15 : 60,000/120,000, 12,000 ante

After Dario Sammartino raised, Jeremias "jerederoca87" Mendoza got his short stack in and the Italian called.

Jeremias "jerederoca87" Mendoza: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Dario Sammartino: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Sammartino flopped an ace on {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} (followed by a "So Sick" emote from Mendoza), and busted the Argentinian after the {j-Diamonds} turn and {j-Hearts} river.

The Next Trio Departs

Level 15 : 60,000/120,000, 12,000 ante
couchpotato eliminated
couchpotato eliminated

Sylvain "couchpotato" Loosli saw his hopes vanish after all when he took a flip with {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} against the {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} of Joao Vieira.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Vieira rivered the ten-high straight, neither player had a diamond in the hand.

Up next Kenneth "rebuyguy" Smaron ran out of chips and he was followed to the rail by Ottomar "Decent!" Ladva.

Nick "rdcrsn" Maimone raised to 270,000 from under the gun and Ladva defended the big blind to then check through a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}. Ladva bet the {2-Diamonds} turn for 372,000 and Maimone called before Ladva check-called the shove on the {k-Spades} river.

It was a decent river for Maimone with {a-Spades}{9-Spades} for the nut flush as Ladva only had {j-Spades}{7-Spades} for an inferior flush.

Setback for Zamani

Level 15 : 60,000/120,000, 12,000 ante

Martin Zamani has been a fixture near the top of the leaderboard for the past few hours but suffered a setback after losing a race against "Vladimir13".

Zamani's {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} was ahead against "Vladiator13's" {a-Spades}{q-Spades} until the turn where the Lithuanian spiked a queen.

Shortly after, Zamani lost more chips against Rui Ferreira who spiked a rivered ten on a {4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} while Zamani had {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Ferreira had bet flop and turn to check the river behind.

Higgins and Sasaki No More

Level 15 : 60,000/120,000, 12,000 ante
Simon Higgins Eliminated
Simon Higgins Eliminated

Down to the last five tables, Simon Higgins and Nobuaki "Sasa JHR" Sasaki bowed out in quick succession and that reduced the field to the final 38 contenders.

Simon Higgins: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Hen "GeorgeTheVet" Rosilio: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Higgins had jammed preflop and was looked up by Hen "GeorgeTheVet" Rosilio in the cutoff with the dominating hand. Both flopped a pair on the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts} board to eliminate Higgins.

Sasaki was dominated with {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} versus {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} as Dario Sammartino faded the ace or another queen on the {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Diamonds} board and instead hit a king-high straight.

Down to Five Tables

Level 14 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Another three players hit the rail in quick succession and that included Allan "Mr Satan" Udeajah, Vincent "Peleus34" Li and "BobbyHU".

Udeajah ran with {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} into the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} of "d0rk21" and failed to catch any help, instead the {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board sealed his fate on the turn.

Li ran with {a-Spades}{2-Spades} out of the big blind into the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} of button raiser Akichika "akichiam" Maruhashi and failed to connect with the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board.

Last but not least, "BobbyHU" lost a flip with ace-king versus tens and the table broke right after.

WSOP Legend: 3-Time Poker Players Championship Winner Michael Mizrachi

Level 14 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

The World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), which was created in 2006, is considered the tournament where the best of the best take on one another and duke it out in a variety of poker games, a reflection of all-around poker skill. Imagine playing the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu five days in a row in a short-handed mixed format.

Needless to say, the hefty price tag coupled with a small, elite field created a legacy for the PPC where champions are considered among the greatest overall poker players. A quick glance at its 14-year history shows nothing but greatness among champions, from John Hennigan to Mike Gorodinsky, and with the late David "Chip" Reese as perhaps the event's most fitting inaugural winner back in 2006.

Winning once is the poker professional's dream. Winning two? You're in a league of your own. But winning the toughest event with poker's best three times? Only one man achieved that improbable feat on this day back in 2018, after winning his first two titles in 2010 and 2012: Michael Mizrachi.
