Sylvia's Crackin' Jacks

Level 11 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jesse Sylvia
Jesse Sylvia

Jesse "MrJesseJames" Sylvia jammed for 6,230 from the hijack, and Romain "terrrr1" Lotti called in the small blind.

Jesse "MrJesseJames" Sylvia: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}
Romain "terrrr1" Lotti: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Sylvia picked up a gutshot on the {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop, but the {q-Hearts} turn provided no additional help. Lotti's jacks couldn't hold up, however, as the {4-Clubs} hit the river to give Sylvia the nuts and the double.

"olmuggins" Opts to Fire Again

Level 11 : 200/400, 50 ante

After "almanson" opened for 1,850 from the hijack, Timothy "olmuggins" Phillips three-bet all in for 2,632 from the cutoff. Action folded back to "almanson" and they called.

Timothy "olmuggins" Phillips: {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
"almanson": {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Phillips was in need of some help and got a little when the {q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop gave him an open-ended straight draw. He hit it on the {9-Diamonds} turn, but his lead was shortlived as the {j-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give "almanson" a bigger straight and the win.

Phillips was felted but opted to reload by rebuying for 20,000.

Bobby Poe

"iHappy" raised to 800 from middle position, and Bobby "Katie1972" Poe three-bet to 2,000 from the button. "Happy" four-bet shoved, and Poe called for 10,059 total.

Bobby "Katie1972" Poe: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
"iHappy": {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Poe's aces held up on a {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades} board, and he shipped the double.

Bo Knows How to Get Value

Level 10 : 160/320, 40 ante

Bo "Proudpatriot" Cappello limped in from under the gun, "bogey29" limped in from the small blind, and "1changuito1" checked their option in the big blind.

Action checked to Cappello on an {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 640. Only "bogey29" called.

"bogey29" checked again on the {3-Hearts} turn, and Cappello bet 1,920. "bogey29" called again.

The {6-Clubs} fell on the river, and "bogey29" check-called a bet of 6,440 from Cappello, who tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for top two pair. "bogey29" mucked.

This Weekend in WSOP History: Hellmuth Extends Record With Bracelet No. 15

Level 10 : 160/320, 40 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Up until two years ago, the World Series of Poker always culminated in the Main Event and Main Event only. Slowly but surely, the once-bustling Miranda, Pavilion, and Brasilia rooms would all break down one by one until a cozy, small part of the Amazon room was left for the final bang. While it never failed to give an intimate end to a seven-week extravaganza, it also resulted in players often calling it a day at the Rio once their Main Event was done for.

In 2018, the WSOP decided to add an expanded offering throughout the final weeks, adding a slew of events on top of the Main Event to keep the Rio packed and excitement high all the way up to the end. It was in one of those late events that on this day in 2018, in Event #71: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo, that Phil Hellmuth extended his WSOP legacy by winning his 15th, and to this date latest, bracelet.
