Brazil announced their presence early at the final table, as they held three of the top four chip stacks when play started with the final nine. It wouldn't take long for Tauan Naves, who had the chip lead at the time, to knock out Oskar Prehm in ninth place when Prehm shoved with a small ace, and was dominated by the fives of Naves.

Not only after that, it was Tomas Jozonis, by far the biggest money earner of the final nine coming into this event, who would bow out in eighth place after getting his stack in the middle dominated against Victor Begara. Petkov would follow him out the door in seventh, and it was once again Tauan Naves who would do the deed, once again holding a dominating hand.

Pires would score his first knockout of the final table next, and it was fellow Brazilian Begara who would be the victim. Begara was in great shape to double up, but Pires caught a three outer on the river to secure the knockout.

Speaking of their first eliminations at the final table, eventual runner-up Lukas Hafner would get in on the action next, taking two monster pots off of Paul Fisher to bust the Canadian in 5th place. Hafner would then make it back-to-back knockouts, when he busted Xiongbin Zhang in 4th place.

Naves would bow out not long after in third place, setting up a heads-up duel between Hafner and Pires. The latter would open up a big chip lead after picking off a big bluff, and finished the tournament out in style, rivering an eight-high straight to best the flopped top pair of Hafner.

PokerNews will be taking a day off on Monday, August 9, but the action will pick up again with one of the most anticipated tournaments of the series, Event #8: $5,000 6-Handed Championship, so be sure to come back to find out who makes that final table!

Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner Eliminated in 2nd Place ($984,469)

Level 30 : 1,500,000/3,000,000, 350,000 ante

Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner checked after the flop of {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, and Eduardo Pires fired 3,500,000. Hafner check raised to 11,600,000, and Pires called to see the {4-Diamonds} hit the turn. Hafner fired 19,691,000, Pires called again, and the river brought the {8-Diamonds}.

Hafner checked ,and Pires moved all in, setting Hafner all in. He had about 35,000,000 left behind, and decided to call it off with {7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. It was no longer good though, as Pires had rivered a straight with {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Hafner wil have to settle for almost becoming a millionaire, taking home $984,469.16, while Eduard Pires will earn an incredible $1,384,013.01 for his efforts. Stay tuned for a full recap of this truly massive event!

Pires Picks Off Big Bluff

Level 30 : 1,500,000/3,000,000, 350,000 ante

In the first significant hand of heads up play Eduardo Pires raised to 6,000,000 preflop, and Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner called. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Hafner checked to Pires, who continued for three million. Hafner check raised to 11 million, Pires called, and the {9-Clubs} hit the turn.

Hafner continued the aggression with a bet of 18,890,000, and Pires called once again to see the {2-Diamonds} complete the board. Hafner fired once again, 22,900,000 and change this time, and Pires looked him up one more time.

Hafner showed just {j-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a busted straight, and Pires rolled over {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to take a big lead in this heads up battle.

Xiongbin "zxb8553624" Zhang Eliminated in 4th Place ($498,115)

Level 29 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 300,000 ante

Xiongbin "zxb8553624" Zhang moved all in on the button for his final 21 million and change, and he looked to be in great shape to double up, as his {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} was dominating the {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} of Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner. However, that quickly changed after the flop came down {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. A deuce on the turn left Zhang drawing to three outs, but none of them would come on the river, giving Hafner the come from behind knockout.

Paul "PaulRisman" Fisher Crippled, Eliminated in 5th Place ($354,317)

Level 29 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 300,000 ante

Paul "PaulRisman" Fisher was the latest player to bow out in 5th place, earning over $350,000 for his efforts. Fisher lost most of his chips in a blind vs blind confrontation with Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner. The two would get all the chips in on a flop of {6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Fisher held pocket kings, and was well ahead of the {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} of Hafner. However, the {5-Diamonds} came right on the turn to give Hafner a winning straight.

That left Risman with less than five big blinds, and those chips would go in shortly after. However, his Ace-Seven was dominated by the Ace-King of Hafner, who finished the deed after the board ran down queen high.

With that, just four players remain!

Victor Begara Eliminated in 6th Place ($252,031)

Level 29 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 300,000 ante

Action folded around to the chip leader Eduardo Pires on the button, and he moved all in, with both of the blinds having around 10 bigs. Victor Begara called all in holding {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}, and he was dominating the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} of Pires.

Begara looked like he would double after the flop of {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and the {4-Spades} turn. However, the {9-Hearts} came on the river, sinking Begara in sixth place.
