Shorr Gets Luck to Triple Up

Level 20 : 1,400/2,800, 350 ante

"alwzhigh" raised to 7,700 from middle position and Shannon "aulophobia" Shorr three-bet jammed for 20,152 from the hijack. Raghav "JerseyGuy316" Sankararaman then moved all in over the top for 32,748 from the small blind and "alwzhigh" snap-called to put both players at risk.

Shannon "aulophobia" Shorr: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}
"alwzhigh": {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Raghav "JerseyGuy316" Sankararaman: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

"alwzhigh" had the best of it but wound up with the worst hand after the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Shorr made a straight to triple up while Sankararaman rivered a set to win the small side pot.

Mitchell Halverson
Mitchell Halverson

Mitchell "franzia" Halverson raised to 4,800 from the cutoff. Maxwell "Mawkswell" Young jammed all in from the small blind and Halverson called it.

Halverson had the {a-Spades}{8-Spades} looking to take out the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs} of Young.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{a-Hearts} and Halverson added another chunk to his large stack, while Young was busted.

Shorr Survives Torrence

Level 19 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr

Action folded to Lily "theslimshady" Torrence on the button and she moved all in. Shannon "aulophobia" Shorr was in the big blind and opted to call off for 12.,976.

Lily "theslimshady" Torrence: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Shannon "aulophobia" Shorr: {7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop was interesting as it paired Shorr's king but also gave Torrence both straight and flush draws. Fortunately for Shorr, neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {9-Clubs} river changed a thing and he kept his tournament hopes alive.

WSOP Legend: 3-Time Poker Players Championship Winner Michael Mizrachi

Level 18 : 1,000/2,000, 250 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

The World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), which was created in 2006, is considered the tournament where the best of the best take on one another and duke it out in a variety of poker games, a reflection of all-around poker skill. Imagine playing the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu five days in a row in a short-handed mixed format.

Needless to say, the hefty price tag coupled with a small, elite field created a legacy for the PPC where champions are considered among the greatest overall poker players. A quick glance at its 14-year history shows nothing but greatness among champions, from John Hennigan to Mike Gorodinsky, and with the late David "Chip" Reese as perhaps the event's most fitting inaugural winner back in 2006.

Winning once is the poker professional's dream. Winning two? You're in a league of your own. But winning the toughest event with poker's best three times? Only one man achieved that improbable feat on this day back in 2018, after winning his first two titles in 2010 and 2012: Michael Mizrachi.
