Koon Gets Some Back

Level 53 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Jason Koon raised it up to 60,000 and was called by Gabor Szabo, which led them to the {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop. Both players opted to check and did so again on the {5-Spades} turn. Szabo also checked the {q-Clubs} river and Koon bet 100,000. After some 90 seconds in the tank, Szabo released his cards into the muck.

Two hands later, Koon made it 60,000 to go. Szabo then three-bet to 240,000 and Koon folded the {a-Clubs} face up with the words "very tight player."

Szabo Pulls Ahead Some

Level 53 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

In the last hand before the blinds went up, Gabor Szabo raised to 50,000 and Jason Koon called. The {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop brought a check-call for 75,000 by Koon and he also checked the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. Szabo checked back and Koon then checked the {j-Spades} on the river. The Hungarian bet 175,000 for Koon to call and revealed the {8-Spades}{6-Clubs} for jacks and eights as the winning hand.

Szabo then claimed the first small pot of the new level with a continuation bet on the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and increased his early lead some more.

Koon Thinks Twice About It

Level 52 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Gabor Szabo raised the button to 50,000 only to have Jason Koon three-bet to 200,000. Szabo called and the flop came down {6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

Koon check-called a bet of 150,000 and then action went check-check on the {6-Clubs} turn.

When the {q-Spades} double paired the board on the river, Koon checked for the third time and Szabo bet 700,000.

Koon thought long and hard, even cutting out calling chips, but he must have thought better of it as he set them back in his stack before folding his hand.

Showdown Pot for Szabo

Level 52 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

The pots remain very small and just one hand went to showdown as Gabor Szabo has taken the narrowest possible lead over Jason Koon.

It started with the usual raise to 50,000 by Koon and Szabo called. They checked to the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades} turn on which Szabo bet 75,000 and Koon called. Both checked the {q-Spades} river and Szabo's {q-Hearts}{5-Spades} won the pot.

Early Momentum for Koon

Level 52 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Jason Koon opened to 50,000 and Gabor Szabo called to see a flop of {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. The Hungarian checked, Koon bet 100,000 and that ended the pot right there.

Szabo then earned these 50,000 back with a raise and take it after a {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop.

Koon claimed the next two pots without showdown. Both were raised pots for 50,000 preflop and Szabo once check-called for 30,000 on the {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The {a-Hearts} followed on the turn and Koon's bet of 240,000 forced a check-fold.

Koon then check-called on a {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop for 25,000 and checked the {10-Hearts} turn, Szabo checked back. Koon led the {4-Spades} river for 35,000 and that won the pot without resistance.

Henri Puustinen Eliminated in the Semi-Finals ($89,787)

Level 51 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Henri Puustinen

In a limped pot to the {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Henri Puustinen checked and Jason Koon bet 60,000 into 80,000 for his opponent to call. The {j-Spades} fell on the turn and Puustinen checked once more. Koon now bet 250,000 to earn a call and the Finn checked the {k-Diamonds} on the river. Koon splashed in all his remaining T-100,000 chips and that sent Puustinen deep into the tank.

Eventually, he tossed in a single chip for the call and Koon rolled over the {j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for two pair. Puustinen's cards were briefly exposed as the {q-Spades}{3-Spades} hit the muck. The online heads-up specialist has been eliminated in the semifinals for $89,787 while Koon punched his ticket to the final.
