The second and final day of Event #33: $800 Eight-Handed No-Limit Holdem Deep Stack was one filled with speed and intensity. From the moment the cards were pitched into the air, up until the last river card was dealt, the play was fast and intense. It took less than five hours of poker to reach the final nine players. Then, from the final nine on it was all about the Rans.

Ran Ilani and Ran Koller came to the final table first and seventh in chips, respectively. The former Ran was active en route to his runner-up finish, while the latter laid back and seemingly capitalized on every opportunity that presented itself. This is believed to be the first time that two Israelis have competed for a bracelet heads-up at the WSOP, but it is most definitely the first time there have been two Rans heads-up for the title.

Koller said that things just happened the way that they happened at this final table. He was at a loss for words to describe the feeling he has right now after defeating his fellow countryman with a shared given name to win his first WSOP gold bracelet as well as the $269,478 first-place cash prize.

Its amazing. I do not even have the words for it. It was surreal., reminisced Ran.

When asked about his plan for the rest of the series, Ran responded with, I am here until the end of the series and I am going to play some more events.

What a tournament win and well deserved WSOP gold bracelet for this young Israeli poker professional.

Ran Ilani

Ran Koller limped in on the button and Ran Ilani checked his option. The flop came {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Ilani checked to Koller who bet 3,000,000. Ilani called and the {k-Hearts} peeled off on the turn.

Ilani checked again and Koller sized up a bet of 11,500,000. Ilani check-raised to 32,000,000, leaving himself with just 2,000,000 chips behind. Koller announced all in and Ilani called it off.

Ran Ilani: {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Ran Koller: {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Ilani had a pair and flush draw but was up against a flopped straight from Koller. The river brought the {9-Diamonds} and Koller held on to eliminate Ilani in second place.

Slow Action

Level 42 : 1,200,000/2,400,000, 2,400,000 ante

Heads-up action between the two Israeli players has come to almost a complete stop. Very few pots have made it mast the flop and the chips have yet to go in the middle. Ran Ilani continues to hold a slight lead over Ran Koller with the end of the final level approaching.

The players will have the option of two courtesy levels if they wish to play on.

Ran Koller raised to 4,000,000 on the button and Ran Ilani called from the big blind. The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked through to the {8-Diamonds} on the turn and the {2-Hearts} on the river.

Ilani finally threw in a bet of 4,000,000 and Koller quickly looked him up. Ilani showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for two pair and Koller conceded the pot.

Florian Guimond Eliminated in 3rd Place ($124,671)

Level 41 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante
Florian Guimond
Florian Guimond

Florian Guimond pushed his remaining chips in the middle and called the preflop raise from Ran Ilani. The cards were turned face-up and Guimond was at risk but held the advantage with {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} versus the {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} of Ilani.

The flop of {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} changed nothing.

The turn card was the {9-Diamonds} and Ilani took the lead and did not look back.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Ilani's one pair of nines won the hand, and Guimond was eliminated in 3rd place and took home $124,671 for his effort.

Koller's Turn to Double Up

Level 41 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Florian Guimond raised to 4,000,000 on the button and Ran Koller jammed all in for 22,000,000 in the big blind. Guimond quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Ran Koller: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Florian Guimond: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

It was a coin flip and the flop of {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} left Koller in the lead with neither playing holding a spade in their hand. The {4-Clubs} turn and the {5-Diamonds} river locked up the double for Koller.
