Wong Takes Huge Chip Lead Into Final Stage of Quest for First Bracelet

Danny Wong
Danny Wong

The final eight players return at 2:00 p.m. local time Monday to play for the first-place prize of $240,341, the WSOP gold bracelet, and the title of Event #57: $10,000 2-7 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw champion.

Danny Wong (1,755,000) enters the day as the favorite after a dominant performance Sunday that saw him plow through the field and build a near 600,000 chip lead over his closest competitor, three-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon (1,170,000).

Wong's result in this event marks his 74th career WSOP cash, but despite that many cashes, and over $1.5M in career WSOP earnings, Wong is still looking for an elusive first-ever WSOP bracelet.

Also standing in Wongs way will be Wil Wilkinson (945,000), whose most recent WSOP results came back in 2016 which included a 5th place finish in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. A pair of bracelet winners are also in the hunt for the title, though Joao Vieira (290,000), and Brandon Shack-Harris (275,000) enter the day with two of the shortest stacks in play.
