On Sunday, the 2022 World Series of Poker Online continued with Event #8: $1,000 NLH 6-Max, a tournament that drew 238 players who rebought 146 times. The 384-entry field resulted in a $345,600 prize pool, and after just over nine hours of play, it was Jesse "Dangerous22" Lonis emerging victorious to capture a $73,370 top prize and his first gold bracelet.

Lonis, who defeated Cole "anniemay" Ferraro in heads-up play, was a WSOP Circuit ring winner with nearly $1.8 million in live tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob. That includes a career-best $241,800 for 25th in the 2021 $10,000 WSOP Main Event and a fifth-place finish in the 2021 $3,500 No Limit Hold'em WPT Championship for $223,895.

Lonis previously came close to winning a bracelet this summer at the 2022 WSOP when he finished runner-up in Event #88: $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Super Turbo for $117,872.

Final Table Action

The six-handed final table started off with a bang. Vikanty "V4Victoria" Shegal was the first casualty when they got their short stack in with jack-eight against the aces of Jason "TheBigGift" Gooch and could not improve, exiting in sixth place.

Soon after Carlos "CarlosWelch" Welch became short and moved in with king-ten and was called by Lonis with ace-ten. The board gave Lonis aces-full and Welch was eliminated in fifth place.

Jonathan "Art.Vandelay" Dokler was on the wrong end of a cooler when he shoved all in on the turn with top pair against the middle set of fives for Gooch and was drawing dead, hitting the rail in fourth place. Gooch's run good would come to and end when he picked up ace-king and moved all in but was snap-called by the kings of Lonis and was eliminated in third place.

Heads-up play started with a 5-1 chip lead for Lonis and looked to be a short battle, however Ferraro did not go out without a fight and managed to climb back to almost even until the final hand when Lonis shoved all in with pocket threes and was called by Ferraro with ace-five and could not improve. Ferraro was eliminated in second place and Lonis captured the victory and first WSOP gold bracelet.
